As part of the preceptorship at Pelli Clarke Pelli, the underground lighting feature in the Unicredit tower was to be designed to light a central sculpture in the Garibaldi Porto Nuova complex in Milan, Italy. The feature that was designed is an egg-shaped ceiling soffit and skylight with spotlights along its perimeter. The feature frames the Unicredit Tower, one of Italy’s tallest buildings, above the underground shopping center in the complex. The task was to produce the form and structure of the feature as well as to illustrate spotlighting options for the client.
