A Quick Update

Hello hello! It’s been quite a while since my last update (two years), so I wanted to let you all know what has been going on in my life. Between work, travel, life, and fun, things have been busy and I haven’t had time to write. Life is what happens between blog posts, so I am just gonna give a quick rundown of what’s been going on.

Most recently, I have just had 18 months as a Senior UX Designer at VML (formerly Wunderman Thompson). I’ve been working on their Apps and Experience team redesigning digital, mixed reality, and physical experiences for some of their biggest clients. It’s been a great experience working at a big agency with a lot of resources to make my ideas a reality for their clients.

I still make my projects – woodworking, 3D printing, rapid prototyping. Even made an eclipse viewer out of one of my lamps. I am always teaching myself new skills.

I saw one of my favorite bucket-list architectural projects, Fallingwater in Pennsylvania. It was an enchanting experience to see the work of one of America’s greatest architects Frank Lloyd Wright in person.

Last summer, I went on a mini tour of Europe, bracketing a wedding in the south of France with a honeymoon-ish in the Canary Islands and a visit to Munich, where my grandfather lived for most of his life.

First stop was Tenerife in the Canary Islands, inspired by an episode of the show Travel Man with Richard Ayoade (fellow Nigerian). The island was beautiful and beyond our expectations. My husband and I stayed at a banana plantation off the beaten path. We saw the beach and the volcanic cliffs Los Gigantes. We also went up Mount Teide and saw the Milky Way. And we had wonderful food, we enjoyed a local trattoria, a homey guachinche, and a Michelin-recommended restaurant.

We then went to Provence, France for attend the wedding of our great friends. It was nice to experience the slower side of France outside Paris and see all of our friends.

Last on the Euro-tour, we went to Munich to visit one of my husband’s dear friends and visit my grandfather’s final resting place. I was named after him so it was very moving to see where he lived and where he was laid to rest. The city was so nice, safe, and easy to traverse thanks to its amazing transit. It has made my husband and I think about moving there.

That’s a lot of for a quick update but I think we’re (mostly) caught up. We moved into a new apartment, recently had my 34th birthday party, went to another friend’s wedding, and celebrated seven years of love. More work things are coming, including an update to my website. Stay tuned for more and I will make sure not to go so long between blog posts.
